PAHIATUA.

PAHIATUA, Sept. 15. Mrs Gregory and Mbs Dorothy Gregory, of Auckland, are the guests ot Miss M. Gregory, W’akeman Street. Mrs Cornelius, senior, who arrived in New Zealand from Ireland about three weeks ago, is now staying with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs W. Cornelius, Xiraumea Road. Mrs F. H. Baucke and Air W. Tateson, of Rongokokako, are at present in the Pahiatua Hospital for treatment. Airs E. Drysdale, Nireaha, accompanied by her daughter, Nancy, i 3 on a holiday with friends at Colyton. Air B. Anderson, who has resided in Hukanui for a number of years, recently left to take up a position in Nelson.

Nearly fifty suppliers attended the annual meeting of the Pahiatua Coo-operative Dairy Co., hold in the Alangamutu Hall yesterday. Air D. O’Brien, chairman of directors, presided. The annual report read inter alia: “As it is understood that some comment has been made regarding tho fact that we close our annual accounts on July 31 instead of a month or two earlier, it is desirable that wo mention that it has been found that a much more accurate estimate of unsold produce, both cheese and butter, can bo arrived at by closing when we do. Therefore wo can with safety make a final payunent for the year at the annual meeting. All butter has been already sold and all cheese has been shipped. In the butter department it is proposed to bring up to lid per lb all butterfat payments of continuous suppliers, which means that for eleven months’ supply you will have received lid per lb and for one month Is per lb. In addition to this you have been charged nothing individually for cream cartage, use of cans, etc., those items being a charge to the profit and loss account for the year as indicated in the balance-sheet. We believe that a comparison with other similar concerns inside or outside this district will make evident the fact that our average return to suppliers has not been equalled. In the cheese department we are in a position to bring the average payment for all butterfat received up to llid per lb and in the whey butter department an additional payment will be mado of lid per lb. With regard to the latter, we desire to express to the various factory managers, whose cream we dealt with co-operatively, our sincere thanks for the condition in which they kept their ■whey cream. It was a credit to them and they are well repaid for their care.” The retiring directors, Alessrs C. Isakson and IV. Alangin were re-elected unopposed and both briefly returned thanks. Mr T. Verry was elected cream suppliers’ representative in place of Air J. Robertson (resigned). A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Air Robertson for his services. Mr W. C.
