ABOUT A MILLION THIS YEAR.
Per Press Association
AUCKLAND, Sept. 14. Nearly 600,000 eggs will reach the London market from Auckland this year, more than twice as many as last vear’s total of 280,000. In addition there will be about 400,000 sent from southern centres, making the total from the Dominion about 1,000,000. The season’s first shipment, comprising 180 crates, a total of 64,800 eggs, will arrive in London in a few weeks time. “We have got past the experimental stage in the export of eggs, as the increased Auckland shipments show. ' said Mr A. J. Joughin, mamager of a firm dealing in poultry producers' products. “Until the producers are able to purchase fowl wheat at reasonable prices, New Zealand will be at a disadvantage on the export market.'' said Mr Harvey Turner. “At present I regard export merely as a means ot preventing a glut on the local market.”
