CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 15. One of the important matters to be dealt with during the coining session of Parliament will be a complete revision of tho tariff, Hon, G. \\*. Forbes, the Prime Minister, said this morning. Id was proposed to open the whole question of the tariff for revision, but nothing that was proposed to be done would be detrimental to local manufacturers, he added.

Professor Copland, the noted economist, expressed the opinion that the agreements made at Ottawa would not lead to the development of the Empire as an economic unit. He added that only one third of Australia’s export trade wont to Britain, and of that amount half had to be sold at world’s parity prices. One-sixth of the Australian export trade would benefit from the preferential duties of 10 per cent. The benefit to Australia would be approximately ~i,000,000 annually.
