H. Andrews, at a meeting of tho committee to-day. Mr Andrews Criticised tho department for not lending to local bodies for unemployment works tho tools which were said to bo lying rusting in different parts of tho country. ‘‘Up at Parnassus there aro tools more than enough for the Canterbury local bodies.” A letter was received stating that tho Publio Works Department was willing to hire tho tools but not to lend them. , ~ , , Tho committee decided to make a further application for the free uso of tools for building tho proposed new motor road on tho Sumner route, and to arrange for a deputation to tho Primo Minister.
