HOCKEY" RESULTS. Tho ladies’ sealed handicap competition promoted by the Feilding Hockey Association was concluded on Saturday afternoon, Colyton, with five points, being the winners. High School Old Girls, with four points were next; Hinekoa obtained three points while Carnarvon returned a blank sheet, this team having the heaviest handicap. Tfie details are as follow: —Golvton (9) beat H.S.O.G. (5) by 10 to 8; Colyton (9) beat Carnarvon (3) by 9 to o; Colyton (9) drew with Hinekoa (4) 9 ali; H.S.O.G. (5) beat Hinekoa (4) by 7 to 6; H.S.O.G. (5) beat Carnarvon (3) by 5 to 3; Hinekoa (4) beat Carnarvon (3) by 7 to 3. OBITUARY. Deep regret will be felt in Feilding at the news of the death .in a private hospital at Seatoun,. Wellington yesterday of Mr L. A. Elliott, the well-known member of the firm of Messrs Haggitt, Elliott and Fawcett, solicitors, ot Feilding. The deceased gentleman, who was exceedingly well-known and held in high respect, came from a Nelson family, his father, who was a journalist, being connected with the Nelson Colonist. The family moved to Hawera when deceased was a boy and in the Taranaki township he received liis education. He first entered the legal office of Mr Halliwell, of Hawera, as a law clerk and then transferred to tho office of Messrs Bell and Gully, Wellington, till 1907 when he went over to Messrs Field and Luckie. Ho came to Feilding in 1910, purchasing the 'practice of the late Mr W. A. Sandilands. Deceased was prominent in hockey circles as a younger man and represented New Zealand for some years. He did much to promote the game in Feilding and district. His widow (neo Jackson, Wanganui) and son and daughter will have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends. Mr Harry Elliott (Hawera) and Mr Victor Elliott (New Plymouth) are brothers of deceased. GOLF. The Feilding Golf Club held its August medal competition on Saturday, good cards being returned. In the A grade match 11. L. Harding was tho winner with a nett score of 67, his gross score being 80. The best gross score was returned by J. BDuthie, who had the pleasure of breaking, for the first time, 80, by one stroke. In the B grade match D. H. Mclnnes was the winner with a net 70. The following are the deA Grade.—R. L. Kingston, 100— 22—78. NOTES. Brigadier Imrie, of Wellington, conducted the meetings in the Feilding Salvation Army Citadel yesterday. Brigadier Imrie has had a wide and varied experience of Army activities in various parts of the world and his interesting address was listened to by a large gathering.
