DISPUTE IN ENGLAND. FAILURE OF NEGOTIATIONS. GENERAL STRIKE NEXT WEEK. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 27, 12.40 p.xn. LONDON, Aug. 26. As a result of the breakdown of tlio negotiations at Manchester a general strike in the manufacturing section of the cotton industry will begin on August 29, affecting 200,000 operatives. It is considered that only immediate and powerful Government intervention can save the position.
