VALEDICTORY. The clients of the Rank of New South Wales at Feilding _ yesterday afternoon farewcllcd the retiring manager, Mr F. W. Fish, at a function given in his honour. Mr A. J- R ,J *' low presided, and in addition to a large number of local tlieie were also present Messrs T. L. Goldsmith, manager of the Feilding branch of the Bank of New Zealand. J. B. St. l aul, manager of the Bank of Australasia at Feilding. , Mr Kellow referred to the loss Feilding was sustaining through the retirement of Mr Fish and spoke also of the manv good friends the guest had made through his unfailing wish to help. On behalf of the clients Mr Kellow presented Mr Fish with a chiming clock, a fruit dish and a silver handbell bearing the crest or Feilding and wished Mr Fish and his family every happiness in their new home in Auckland. ’ . The toast of Mr Fish was drunk with musical honours. . , In a suitable reply, Mr Fish thanked his friends for their kindly wishes and the thoughts which had prompted the giving ot the handsome gifts, which he would always treasure. Mr A. J. Geary proposed the health of Mr C. M. Sargisson, tl’.e newly appointed manager at Feilding, and on behalf of the gathering welcomed him to the town. . . The toast was accorded musical honours, Mr Sargisson briefly replying. HOCKEY. The ladies’ sealed handicap hockey competition will be continued on Victoria Park to-morrow afternoon, the fixtures being as under: Carnaivon v. Colyton (Messrs Sporle and Chesterfield); Hinekoa v. H.S.O.G. (Messrs Wallis nnd Garlick). DENTAL CLINIC. Miss L. Wimsett, Feilding schools dental clinic nurse, reports having conducted 305 operations for August, these including 243 fillings, and 31 extractions. Children from the Halcombe, Lytton Street. Stanway and Manchester Street Schools received treatment. CARD TQURNEY. On Monday night next the Manchester Unity and Foresters’ card teams will play off in the final for the Feilding Friendly Societies’ card tournament shield. This trophy was presented eight years ago for competition spread over eight years. Manchester Unity had won it three times and Foresters made their total to three by winning this year. These two will therefore play off next Monday night, and the winners will retain permanently a trophy which has given a good deal of keen interest to the Friendly Societies’ card tournaments. FOOTBALL.
