(From Our Own Correspondent.) UTUAVAI, Aug. 26.
Tho Utuwai Hall was taxed to its utmost capacity on AYcdnesdny evening, when a concert and dance was held in aid of the Mt. Richards Ring J’ong Club. Visitors attended from Raumai, Rohangina, Komako and Apiti and tho energetic committee responsible for tho function have reason to foil well pleased with the result of their efforts. Thu stage, which was prettily decorated with ferns and spring liowers, gave a charming setting for the numerous ltems which were rendered to an appreciative audience. Following is the list of items: Pianoforte solo, Aliss B. Stevens; song, Ah' A. Balmer; Highland dance, Alias Edwards; recitation, AJiss Wingato; Shepherd’s Song, Misses A. and E Roberts; monologue, Miss Al. Wingate; song, Aliss I. Roberts; song. Airs Pettigrew; sketch, Pohangina Entertainers; violin solo, Air Aiosely; song, Air A. Roberts; dialogue, Air and Airs A. Balmer; sailor’s scene, Aliases A. and JO. Roberts and Edwards; song und chorus, Mr E. Roberts; plantation song, Aliss I. Roberts; sketch, l’oliaitgina Entertainers; Good-night song, the company. At the termination of tho concert programme supper was served by the ladies and the floor was cleared for dancing. The music was contributed by Misses AicKenzie and Percy and Alessrs T. Searlc and AI. Alosely.
