COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.
PJCTON MURDER CHARGE. Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Aug. 26. The hearing of the charge of murder against Edward Tarrant was resumed this morning. Detective Jarrold continued his evidence. He said that Sub-Inspector Ward, after warning accused that ho was willing to take any further statement he liked to make, accused said he found the money in a wallet under the hedge between the croquet lawn and Miss Williams’s property. He had been searching for hens’ nests when he found it. When accused was charged with murder he replied, “I did not do it.” After his arrest a £2O note was found in the lining of accused’s overcoat. Accused said it was the last of the money he had found. Sub-J nspeetor Ward’s evidence followed the lines of that given by Detective Jarrold.
Counsel for accused reserved his defenco and accused was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreco Court.
