WORK ON WATERFRONT
SITUATION AT AA’ELLINGTON. Per Press Association. AA'ELLINGTON, Aug. 24. AA’ork on the waterfront is proceeding. The men are working under the same conditions as yesterday. The conference arranged in order to discuss certain of the conditions in the shipowners’ new terms met this morning, but conclusions are not expected before one o’clock.
AVORK RESUMED AT GISBORNE

GISBORNE, Aug. 24. Tho waterside situation to-day was brought in line with the conditions at other ports, when the unionists accepted work on tho coastal steamer Tairoa under protest at the old conditions and under tho new rates, pending the result of the AYellington conference.
It is understood that instructions were received yesterday from the union headquarters amending the previous advice to combat tho new rates and conditions.
