MINERS AT NIGHTCAPS.
OWNERS’ PROPOSALS REJECTED
Per Press Association
INVERCARGILL, Aug. 23 As a result of the meeting of miners at Nightcaps, which decided, by an overwhelming majority, to re’ect the owners’ proposals, all work has ceased. The Black Lion mine, now owned by Mr McSkimmings, of Ben Har, will continue to work, as the agreement made by the owner and the miners is considered satisfactory. The various mines affected are the Linton, Wairaki, Mossbank, Birchwood and Black Diamond. To-day no further intimation had been received from the union, a.nd it was learnt in Invercargill that no work was being done at any of the mines except the Black Lion. It is understood that there is no immediate danger of a shortage of supplies, as fairly good stocks are on band at most of the yards.
