(From Our Own Correspondent.) RANGIOTU, July 28. Increased interest in tho meetings of the IV omen’s Institute 16 well maintained as was evidenced by (he record attendance of members at the monthly mooting of the branch held last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs E. Beard (president) expressed sincere pleasure for the very keen interest taken by all members of the branch since its incoption and said it, augured well for the future progress and welfare of the institute. more new members wore enrolled during ■ the course of the afternoon, making a total t membership of 45. Tho institute’s colours and emblems were longthily discussed, and , it was unanimously decided, that blue and j gold be the colours and an Iceland poppy the emblem. Tho competition for best i home-made scone 3 attracted a very large ■ number of entries, and was won by Mrs • J. Andrews, Mrs H. Pearce 2, and'Mrs G. Lamont 3. Folk dancing -by tho younger members of tho branoh was greatly appro* ciated, followed by a plaj-etto excellently rendered by Mrs Rus6oll and Misses Hughes, Perry and Foist. Both these items materially added to tho social success of tho afternoon’s proceedings. Mrs S. Pearce moved a hearty vote of thanks to all those who took an active part in tho afternoon’s entertainment. A delightful afternoon tea was handed round, tho hostesses being Mes» dames McCullum, Renton and Donaldson. The National Anthem brought a most pleasant and beneficial afternoon to a close.
