SLUGGISH RIVER BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Sluggish River .Drainage Board was held yesterday, Mr F. J. Foster presiding. Also present were Messrs M. J. Ryan. E. C. Print, A. AV. Morcom and H. J. Lancaster.
The Bank of New Zealand advised that the board’s overdraft limit had been reduced to £1720. It was resolved that, if the men are flooded out where they are now working under the No. 5 scheme, they bo shifted into the Bainesse drains. The clerk advised that the overdraft was £1331 9s 2d and that £291 19s lid in rates were outstanding.
The overseer (Mr '\V. Locke) reported that sinee last meeting No. 2 drain had been completed and deepening had been started in Taikorea drain, eighteen chains having been completed. The average number of men employed daily last week was thirty.
