, PAHIATUA, July 28. Mr and Mrs Wainwright, of Lower Hutt, are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. H. Breniner, Ballancc. Mr W. Roil, Hamua, has been spending a holiday at Gisborne. Mr Gordon Smith, of Hamua, has returned from a holiday spent at Miramar, Wellington. Mr R. A. Williams, of -Mangatainoko, was the judge of the Old English Game section at the Auckland - Poultry Society’s exhibition. Mr and Mrs Duncan Morison, “Tuscan Hills,” and Mrs J. Andorson, Ngaturi, have been visitors to Groytown. Mrs J. G. Green and Mis« K. Ruskell aro spending a holiday in Wellington. A kitchen tea was tendered Mrs J. Doylo (nee Miss Pearl ' Russell) in the Hamua Hall last evening. On behalf of tho Hockey Club, Mr J. Galvin presented Mrs Doylo with a set of table knives and Air Doyle suitably returned thanks. Among those who contributed the daneo music wore Mrs D. Bourke, Misses P. Ryan. Hawkes, D. Davies and Mr C. Mitchell. The M.C. was Mr W. Ryan. Songs were contributed by Mr W. Mitchell, and tho pupils of the school, under the direction of Miss Enid Bullen, entertained with singing and dancing. Residents of Mangamutu tendered a jolly “kitchen evening” to Miss Amy Lawton (whoso marriago to Mr A. H. Condon, now of Palmerston North, takes place shortly) in the Mangamutu Hall last night. A large gathering of friends spent a happy time in dancing and games. Tho musio was supplied by Miss A. Isakson, Messrs W. Foasoy, D. G roves, G. Isakson and_G. Lawton. Two wireless sets were also in operation at intervals. Mr D. J. O’Brien acted as M.C. A home-made supper was dispensed, after which Miss Lawton, assisted by her brother, opened the many parcels. The monthly meeting of tho Ladies' Social Guild was held in St. Paul’s Schoolroom. In the absonco of the president (Mrs Sutherland) through sickness in her homo, tho vice-president, Mrs Fairweather, presided. After tho business was concluded, the meeting was given over to tho hostesses, Mrs Lister and Miss K. Dick. A dainty afternoon tea was handed round and enjoyed by all. Two interesting competitions were held, Miss K. Bisset and Mrs Etz proving the winners. A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Pahiatua, yesterday afternoon, when Agnes Minnie, second daughter of Mrs Schmidt and tho late Mr R. Schmidt, of Kaheko, Apiti, was married to Charles Edward, only son of Mr and Mrs C. Johnskie, of Pahiatua. The brido, who entered tho church on tho arm of her brother, Mr Eric Schmidt, was attired in a white goorgotto and laco frock with a tight-fitting sleeveless bodice and a fully flared skirt, of ankle length, falling from the hip-line. Sho also wore a lace coatee with touches of pink rosebuds and a beautiful embroidered tulle veil and posies of orango blossoms. She carried a bouquet of pale pink and white roses and maidenhair fern, completing a charming toilet. The brido was attended by two maids, Miss Eileen Humphrey (of Pahiatua), and Miss Hazel Shears (of Palmeiston North) attired alike in apple-green satin flared frocks and georgette coatees. Tho bridogroom was attended by Mr R y Hirsfc ,man bCd ßev. ia V. a A. Blanch! officiated and°Mrs H! A.
