THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST.
An anti-cyclone is passing to the north, but a deep depression is crossing tho south Tasman Sea and seems to be developing cyclonic form. Winds variable; westerlies predominating at first, but later east to north; freshening later. Seas moderate generally in New Zealand waters. Winds tending northerly and freshening in the eastern Tasman Sea; seas smooth to moderate, but rising. Weather fair to fine at first, but later becoming cloudy with mist or fog in many places, and rain gradually developing. Temperatures mild. DISTRICT REPORT. COLDER CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist wired to-day:—The indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds, freshening, and after about 20 hours backing by west to south. Expect dull weather with much mist and fog in parts. Heavy rain is to be expected, and the weather will probably become colder tomorrow. The barometer is falling. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE.
