FIERCE GALES
EXPERIENCED IN AUSTRALIA. DOZENS OF HOUSES UNROOFED. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE IN FARM DISTRICTS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June 25, 9.25 a.m. SYDNEY, Juno 25. I ierce westerly gales which were experienced over a wide area covering Tasmania, Victoria and the coastal and highland areas of New South Wales caused considerable damage in a number of places on the south, coast. Dozens of houses and garages were unroofed, and plate glass windows blown in. Terrific guests blew down the wall of the Primary Distributing Society’s store and destroyed the aerial masts of the Wollongong broadcasting station. Particularly extensive damage was done in the farming districts. Hundreds of fences and miscellaneous articles were scattered willy-nilly. A man was blown from a ladder and injured. In a special warning to shipping, the Weather Bureau forecasts' strong gales and rough seas over the Tasman Sea.
