PASSING OF A WONDER HORSE.—The death is reported from Canterbury of Gloaming, one of the greatest horses that has been seen on the turf in New Zealand and Australia. At the time of his retirement in 1925 Gloaming was the greatest stake-earner in the history of racing on either side of the Tasman, his winnings aggregating £43,100. Gloaming did all his racing, in the colours of Mr. G. D. Greenwood, and since being retired from the turf has been running on his owner’s estate in Teviotdale. The picture shows Gloaming doing a preliminary, ridden by George Young.
