PERSONAL.
Mr Alfred AA’arbrick, the veteran chief guide at Te AA’airoa, Rotorua, retires from the Government service on superannuation at the end of May after 30 years’ continuous duty in charge of the famous round tour of Tarawera, Rotomafiana and AVaimangu. Mr Warbrick’s career as guide in the thermal regions Extends over 45 years in all, for he took up the work in 1886, soon after the eruption of Mount Tarawera, and his life in the area of geysers and volcanoes has been full of adventure. He was born on" the shores of Lake Rotomahana, and he knows all the wonderland as no other living man knows it.
