THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. One of a series of intense westerly depressions has been crossing the Dominion. Strong north-westerly winds, of gale force in places, backing to westerly and at times to south-west-eily. Seas heavy south of Cape Egmont; elsewhere rather rough to rough in New Zealand waters. Strong winds to gales between north-west and south-west in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather unsettled, squally and changeab'e. with rain at times in most districts, but .more especially those with a westerly aspect, where some further heavy falls are likely. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day:—The indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather. The barometer is unsteady.
