CHINAMAN ASSAULTED
Per Press Association. MASTERTON, April 20. Loo Sui, a Chinese fruiterer, was the victim of a brutal assault at about ten o’clock to-night when, on going to the back door of his shoi> in Queen Street, he was hit a heavy blow on the forehead with a hammer by an unknown man who was hiding in the back of the premises. Sui, however, recovered quickly from the blow and ran into the street to seek assistance, his assailant disappearing out of the back door into an alleyway. The victim received a deep gash two inches long above tho left eye. As far as is known, nothing was taken from the shop.
