A shooting accident of an unusual nature took place at Paroa, in "Westland, as the result of which George Taylor, single, aged 21, was shot in the left arm. Taylor, while rabbit shooting, placed a gun down, leaving the trigger cocked. As he was making a cigarette, his spaniel stood on the gun. It went off, inflicting a nasty wound above the. elbow. The injured man collapsed after reaching Paroa, and he was conveyed to the Grey River Hospital, where an operation was performed.-
