REBATE ON RATES.
RELIEF TO COUNTY RATEPAYERS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, April 19. As a result of representations made to Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates by Mr A. E. Jull, M.P., as president of the New Zealand Counties’ Association, legislation will probably be introduced this session allowing the 12} per cent, rebate on county rates, given under the special legislation of last year, to apply to all of last year’s rates even in cases where ratepayers have not paid the whole or part of their rates. It is anticipated that this will afford much needed relief to county ratepayers in various parts.
