BURNED BY ACID.

MASSEY COLLEGE LECTURER. Severe burns from concentrated sulphuric acid were suffered by Mr C. P. McMeekan, assistant lecturer in dairying at Massey College, as the result of an accident at the institution yesterday. He was admitted to the Hospital and his condition is reported to be improving. His body was burned generally down one side and the back. When with another man, Mr McMeekan was carrying a two-gallon drum of the apid, weighing about 341 b, by means of a stick through the handle. The stick broke and the drum smashed on the concrete floor, spilling its contents. “ Jumping aside to avoid the acid, Mr McMeekan slipped and fell into it. His clothes soaked up the corrosive mixture, completely ruining a new suit, as well as burning his body. Neutralisers were quickh' applied by the College staff, after which he was conveyed to hospital. He was not seriously injured.
