CALMER ATMOSPHERE PREVAILS

AUCKLAND. April 19. More men itTe at work to-day on relief jobs than yesterday, and the position generally has shown an improvement. The atmosphere created by last week’s riot is now noticeably calmer. The precautions are not being relaxed in the slightest. Rather, they have been increased, but there is much less apprehension in the public mind.
SEAMEN’S STOP-WORK MEETING. Keen interest was taken In a stopwork meeting of the Seamen’s Union this morning, but at noon no decision had been announced.
