EARTHQUAKE RELIEF.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 18. The Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Downie Stewart, stated to-day that a number of applications for assistance under the Hawke’s Bay Earthquake Act, 1931, wero still coming to hand, although the closing date for the receipt of applications was announced as February last. “In order to afford an opportunity of having these applications dealt with and the work of the Rehabilitation Committee in this connection definitely finalised, I have now arranged for the committee to accept and consider anplications received up to April 30, where valid reason is given for tho delay in making them, Mr Stewart said. “It is to be distinctly understood that this is the last extension of time which will be granted for the receipt of these applications.
