SUCCESSFUL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOTxTON, April 7. Tho first meoting of tho F’oxton Sports Club’s horso sports meeting hold on tho F’oxton racecourse yesterday afternoon in ideal weather. The attendance was not as largo as it might havo been, but the competitors wero numerous and most of tho best horses in the district wero present. Tho meeting was unmarred by kny untoward accidont. A feature of tho sports was tho broadcast of events and results to the spectators as well as a programme of music. The results wero as follow: — Alaidon Pony Leaping, 14.2 or under: R. Scott’s Sandy 1, L. McDonald’s Alcg 2, G. Pratt’s Rewa 3; thirteen competitors. Maiden Hunters’ Competition, minimum weight 10.7, including sadldo: R. Scott’s Acmo 1, P. Lano’s El Demonio 2, J. During tho afternoon tho president, Mr W. T. Jewell, presented tho trophies won during tho day. He mentioned tho fact that the meeting was tho initial attempt by tho Foxton Sports C'ub at holding a horso sports meeting, and while the attendance was not all that could bo expected tho club and spectators could congratulate themselves on tho quality of the horses at tho meeting. The club was fortunato in that the meeting had been carried out without any accident. In conclusion, tho president thanked tho donors of the trophies, tho competitors and general public for patronage. Mr Jewell extended his thanks to tho Oroua Downs Club members for their assistanco to tho local club.
