ACCIDENT AT FOXTON.
LONGBURN MAN INJURED. (From Our Own Correspondent). FOXTON, March 22. An accident occurred at the intersection of Johnson and Russell Streets at eight o’clock this morning. Two men, both haypressing contractors from Longburn, were proceeding to work at Levin with a hay tractor and a hay press. The latter machine was being hauled by the tractor, and one of the men, Mr F. O. Taplin, was riding on it. When nearing the intersection, Mr Taplin left his seat and walked along the beam connecting the press with the tractor to.«epeak to his companion, but slipped and fell to the road. The wheel of the press narrowly missed hie head, but he was struck by the axle and iron work. The tractor was immediately brought to a standstill, and a doctor summoned. Mr Taplin was found to have suffered concussion and shock, and it is thought that one of his toes has been fractured. The injuries were confined to his legs and head. After receiving medical treatment, Mr Taplin was removed to hla home in Longburn.
