RUGBY FOOTBALL
OLD BOYS CLUB. In preparation for another season tho Old Boys Rugby Football Club held its 12th annual meeting last night when Mr R. W. Ramsay presided over a gathering of over 40 old and now members. Tho annual report (previously published) and balance-sheet wero read and adopted on the motion of tho chairman, seconded by Mr C. Waugh. In commenting upon the activities of tho past year, the chairman stated that, while the club Irad enjoyed an excellent season, he would be particularly pleased should the senior team prove capable of annexing championship honours in the incoming season. Tho juniors had again secured the honours and it was tho third occasion on which he had had congratulated the team representing tho club in that grado. Tho thirds had had a most enjoyable year, while the social activities had been most enjoyable and profitable. Tin finances of the club were particularly sound and the club had emerged with a credit balanco of £63 6s 6d. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers for the incoming season resulted: —Patron, Mr N. H. Nash (re-elected); president, Mr R. W. Ramsay (re-elected); vicepresidents. 22 were elected; club captain, Mr W. S. Fox (re-elected); lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr G. Hawick (re-elected); lion, auditor, Mr D. Glendinning (re-elected); club delegates to tho Manawatu Rugby Council, Messrs K. Eglinton, W. S. Fox, G. Kells, W. E. Norris, E. Fletcher, A. Puklowslti; dance secretary and assistant. Messrs H. Palmer and R. Pago; trustees, Messrs A. E. Mansford, J. W. Ruthcrfurd and Iv. W. Eglinton; general committee, president, club captain, secretary-treasurer and Messrs M. Henry. G. Kells, M. S. Eglinton, W. E. Norris and E. Fletcher. GENERAL. Donations wero acknowledged with thanks from Messrs E. Bleasel and N. G. Ingham. Mr J. Snndmnn tendered his resignation as a member of the club. The chairman stated that the club could ill-afford to lose such a keen member, nnd although business reasons might prevent Mr Sandman from taking an netive part this season lie suggested that, if approached, lie might be persuaded to* alter his decision. It was decided that the secretary write to Mr Sandman on the matter. It- was decided to apply to the Rugby Council for Tuesday as gymnasium night. The first practice was set down for Saturday, April 2, on the High School grounds. Fifteen new members were elected. Mr Rangi Akuira was elected to life membership, both Messrs Fox and Eglinton making eulogistic reference to his valued service to the club, while the chairman remarked that while Mr Akuira might consider his playing days over, he had nevertheless topped the scoring contributors for the senior team last season with 50 points. An honorarium was voted the sec-retary-treasurer (Mr Dawick) for his valued services last season, while £2 2s was donated to the High School sports fund. Tributes wero paid to the keenness of the club’s president. Mr Ramsay, while eulogistic reference was made to the valued services rendered by Messrs H. Palmer nnd R. Page in their capacity as dance secretaries, the chairman stating that the club's finances would not have been so healthy had it not been for their efforts.
