STRUGGLE FOR LEADERSHIP. FIXTURES FOR TO-MORROW. The local senior cricket competition has reached a very important stage for tomorrow will find the two leading elevens. United and Palmerston, opposing ono another and the side fortune enough to win will thereby be placed in a promising position for tho season’s honours. Meantime these two clubs arc on even footing, although at their carilor meetings a draw and a win for United gave that olub an advantage. However, tne surprise defeat of the leaders by High School _ brought United and Palmerston (champions since the 1927-28 season) together onoe again. Without doubt the state of the wicket will bo a determining factor to-morrow. The junior series will find another important match in progress to-morrow for Y.M.C.A. and Old Boys, tho two leading elevens, will oppose one another on the Sportsground, the complete draw in this grade being :—Y.M.C.A. (m) v. Old Boys, Sportsground; Palmerston _ (m) v. City Council Sportsground; Kia Toa (m) v. High School, Terrace End Park. ' In tho third grade series the draw is:— Kia Ora (m) v. Primary Schools, Terrace End Park; Alibon (m) v. Technical, Sportsground; Albion (m) v. Technical, K aground; Gordon (m) v. Phoenix, School ground. The following teams have been announced to take the field:—

Palmerston juniors.—Lovell, Mabey (captain), J. Gallichan. Davis, Childs, Findlay, Dodds, Ormond, Elley, Hodren, Madgwick. Palmerston North.—Pegden, Leot, Ongley, Kells, Hollior, Norris, Nash, Roach, Berquist, McVicar, Rogers; emergency, Carlisle.

Technical third grade.—Dredge (capt.), Bradley, Russell, Leng, Nicholson, Pope, Essox, Watson, Kilgour, Free, Gardner, Levy, McQueen, Barrett. The following will represent the Primary Schools in third grade cricket on Saturdav, 20th inst.:—Lane (Coll. St.), Yorke (Coll. St.), Gilmour (West End), Jeffrey (Ter. End), Cameron (T.E.), Hardie (T.E.), Mason (T.E.), Hosking (Cent.), McVicar Cent.), Collis (Cent.), C. Le Cheminant (Cent.), Mullins (Coll. St.).
