The committee of the Feilding and District Public Schools Amateur Athletic Association mere on Friday night, Mr Jas. Penney priding. The meeting discussed the programme for the sports meeting to be held next March, and agreed on several amendments thereto. It was decided to provide for fiat races for country school children under 3,9, 10, 11, and open respectively in both the girls’ and boys’ section.* It was recognised that the association had received good support from the country schools, and should encourage them in every wav. The committee also decided to move the point of starting the relay races. These races at the next sports will begin at a point 50 yards down the straight, so that the first batch of competitors off the mark will have a straight run of 50 yards in which to get up speed. This will help to eliminate tee’ handicap of haring a bend in the track at the start of the race. BOWLING. By 180 points to 113 on the grand aggregate the Oroua Bowling Club retained the Sroithers Cup in a match with the Feilding club on Saturday afternoon, played on both the Feilding and Oroua greens. There was only a small attendance at the concert staged in Feihling by Mr and Mrs J. Garde Grimshaw in aid of the funds of Christmas cheer for families of unemployed returned soldiers on Friday night. The programme was very entertaining and appreciated by those present and at the conclusion of it Mr L. Miller, secretary of the local R.S.A., thanked Mr and Mrs Grimshaw and the contributors to the programme for their services and expressed regret that the patronage was not more generous. Mr and -drs Grimshaw and their students provided the entertainment, assisted by Mr 1 indlay, a clever violinist.
