FEDERAL POLITICS.
MR BEASLEY’S POLICY SPEECH,
SYDNEY, Dec. 3
Mr J. Beasley, leader of what is known as the Lang Plan faction in the Federal House, delivered his policy speech in the Sydney Town Hail tonight. His party has candidates standing in all the Metropolitan and some of the country seats, also three nominees for the Senate. Mr Beasley favours the nationalisation of banking and the complete control of finance by the Commonwealth Bank, whose object should be “to see that the real wealth of the people as measured by goods is covered with sufficient current credit to allow trade, commerce and employment to, continue.” This is the essence of the Lang financial plan. Mr Beasley contended that the Commonwealth Bank was now a terrible weapon of oppression and destruction. He advocated co-operative marketing controlled by the producers, fixation of prices and profits, a tariff for the protection of secondary industries and a defence policy for iiome defence only.
