THE WEATHER

GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone still extends from eastern Australia to New Zealand, but has been gradually losing intensity. A slight cyclone has developed north or the Bay of Plenty. Winds moderate to fresh southerly north of New Plymouth and Napier; elsewhere variable, but later tending northerly. Seas rather rough north of Cape Egmont; elsewhere smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate southerly to westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea with moderate seas. Weather still mainly fair to fine, hut with considerable haze and cloud. Showers, however, developing soon in the Auckland and Gisborne provinces and in the far south. DISTRICT~REPORT. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for southerly moderate to strong winds. There is a prospect of fair weather, later increasing haze and cloudiness. The barometer shows little movement.
