Mrs C. Price, of Napier, is a visitor to Woodville, and is the guest of Mrs T. Spelman. Mr and Mrs (Jlimie have returned to Woodville after an extended visit to northern Hawke’s Bay. Mrs J. E. Gleudow, of Napier, is tho guest of her son, Mr Lionel Gleadow, Woodville.

The entertainment was supplied by the dramatic circle, who staged a very laughable little play entitled ‘‘Domestic Service Problems,” those taking part being Mesdames Arltdge, 11. P. Horne anl Jaine. An excellent demonstration of the making of silk lamp shades was given by Mrs W. Cunningham, of Papatawa, who showed a collection of dainty handmade novelties suitable for Christmas gifts. Hearty votes of thanks to tlie entertainers and the demonstrutor were given by acclamation. A roll coll, “What I would like on next year’s programme,” brought out some practical and helpful ideas. The local dangers hud organised a most aitractive sales stall, the goods displayed being the result of the girls’ own work, and of excellent quality. Afternoon tea was dispensed by tlie hostesses, Mesdames R. Johnston, Whittington, Haigh, and J. T. Horne, and the singing of tho National Anthem brought the meeting to a closo. Tho annual meeting of the congregation of St. David’s Presbyterian Church was held on Monday evening, Rev. J. T. Macky, moderator, presiding over a large attendance. Addressing the meeting, Mr Macky.said that the congregation was to be congratulated on the improved state of the balance-sheet. It made much more cheerful reading and had improved tremendously since October 1. Dealing with the Sunday School report, the speaker stated that he would like to see somcono come forward to take tho present vacant office of superintendent. Mr Macky expressed appreciation at the fine work done by the Ladies’ Guild, and also the fine record of missionary activities by tlie P.W.M.U. The election of a management committee resulted as follows: Messrs Curry, H. P. Horne, Forbes, Gray, E. RGrinlinton, Maher, L. McKdniuy, Millar and J. M. Hutchinson, with power to add. A motion was carried approving of the session committee’s action in arranging for Rev. Mr Stevenson to take charge of the church from next February for a period of three months, and that the matter of filling the vacancy be adjourned in the meantime. Votes of thanks were passed to tiie following :—Tho Ladiecs* Guild, tho Misses C. Curry and T. McGregor for acting as organists, Mr Vowell, of Dannevirke, for acting in tho capacity as supply preacher during the year, Rev. Macky in appreciation of his services as moderator, Mr and Mrs Graham for their devoied efforts on behalf of the church, and Mr G. E. Bailey, for acting in the capacity of auditor.
