THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone now covers New Zealand and the Tasman Sea. Southerlv winds, strong at places in the South Island, but decreasing; elsewhere light to moderate. Later winds veering to westerly and northerly in the south. Seas rather rough, but decreasing north of Cape Egmont and between Castlepoint and Cape Campbell; moderate elsewhere in New Zealand waters. Light to moderate south-west winds in the Tasman Sea, veering to westerly in the southern portion; seas moderate. Weather fair to fine generally, but still some isolated showers, more especially in the northern and southern extremities of the Dominion. Cool, but gradually rising temperatures. DISTRICT REPORT. WARMER "CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist wired to-day:—The indications are for variable and moderate breezes. There is a prospect of fair weather, which will probably become warmer. The barometer shows little movement. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—3ins.
