NEW ZEALAND MEAT.

FROM STATION TO BRITISH CONSUMER. FILM EXHIBITED TO LONDON TRADE. One morning recently at a London cinema theatre, about 40 managers of butchers’ shops of the Co-operative Wholesale Society were shown the film of the New Zealand. Meat Board entitled “Meat We Eat.” This film, which is chiefly composed of scenes in New Zealand taken for the Meat Board by the New Zealand Publicity Department, tells the story of the New Zealand mutton and lamb industry from a sheep station to the butcher’s shop in England. Necessarily it has had sotme reconstructions and scenery-enforcing in London, under the supervision of the London manager of the board and the Government Publicity Officer. The cooperative managers found it exceedingly interesting, and at a subsequent adjournment for refreshments (provided by Mr Forsyth, the London manager of the board) said that the educational value of the film has been considerable. It had shown them the hygienic conditions under which the meat was slaughtered and handled. The manager of the Meat Board, in acknowledging thanks, said how pleased he was to be able to afford those who were so closely concerned with the sale of New Zealand this evidence of the details of the New Zealand meat trade. It was quality upon which New Zealand had built up her great trade with Britain and goodwill. At the present day the Dominion was the greatest supplier of mutton and lamb to the Mother Country. He trusted that for any information the butchers required or any assistance they would at once apply to his organisation in London. In addition to the meat film the Government Publicity Officer also showed a small collection of scenic films of New Zealand, which were greatly appreciated.
