SOCIAL LAWS.
ENGLISH JUDGE’S CRITICISM
Received December 3, 11.0 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 2. Commenting on the betrayal of a half-witted girl by a bachelor, Mr Justice McCardie, who earlier in the week outspokenly urged that birth control instruction be given to poorerclass wives, trenchantly criticised the nation’s indifference in permitting mental defectives to propagate. He said that the public must have the courage to face the question of sterilisation .instead of allowing the curse to continue unabated. The Judge mentioned a case which recently came before him where a mentally-defective woman was the mother of nine similar children, four of whom were daughters and already producing their own kind.
