TEST CRICKET.
PLAY YESTERDAY AT BRISBANE

Play in the first cricket Test between Australia and South Africa was resumed at four o’clock in cool, cloudy weather. There was a fair attendance. The wicket had made a remarkable recovery after the rain, but was still soft and,tricky. The South Africans, who are in a most difficult position, were content to keep their wickets 111tact. Mitchell stonewalled for ninety minutes before making a run, his oO taking 247 minutes. It is recalled that he batted for seven hours in a Test at Birmingham for 88. The condition suited Ironmonger today. his figures being 22 overs, 16 maidens, nine runs, two wickets. Kippax and Bradman are absent. The former is suffering from the effects of a blow received in the recent Queensland match, and has returned to Sydney. Bradman is indisposeu. The Town’s innings was declared closed at the overnight score and Neale and Beck opened the Country’s second innings. They were soon separated and at noon the score was 51 for three. Details: — TOWN.
