CHURCH UNION.
CONGREGATION ALISTS’ DECISION. After a long discussion the Congregational Union of Australia and Nc" Zealand meeting in Melbourne a few days ago decided to appoint a committee to reopen negotiations for the union of the Congregational. Presbyterian and Methodist Churches. A committee was appointed. with instructions (a) to reopen negotiations with representativ s of the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches; (b) to explore the possibilities of giving effect to the resolution on Church union, presented by the Congregational Union of Queensland at the Assembly in Brisbane in May, 1929._ ■ Rev. E. Hope Hume (N._S.W.) said that he opposed the existing plans for union, because the Congregational Church would have to concede too much. Otlier speakers urged that no union which involved the principle of absorption should be considered. Rev J. S. Griffiths, principal of tlie Victorian Congregation College, was elected president of the Congregational Union of Australia and New Zealand for the next year.
