CHILD’S DEATH.

Per Press Association

CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 24. After drinking from a bottle on Wednesday, Allen Edward Whitcombe, aged two years, died in the Christchurch Hospital yesterday. At the inquest last evening, the Coroner returned .a verdict that death was due to heart failure, following on the consumption of some narcotic poison which the child had accidentally drunk.

“It will not affect the verdict, but it is necessary in the interests of the public,” said the Coroner when directing that a sample of the liquid be analysed.
