ROAD CYCLING
AMATEUR RACE. The eleventh road race for the Hendie cycle and Boucher trophy was conducted over a 17-milo course yesterday. The weather was fine and the roads were in fair order. The race was dominated in the early stages by the 10-minute bunch, including Jones, Stancombe and L. Day, but just as it looked as if they might not be overhauled they took the wrong road. Astin, Olsen and McKenzie were next in order and after a hard sprint finisred in that order closely followed by Hayes, who registered the fastest time. The result was as follows: E. Astin (7mins.) 1, C. Olsen (7mins.) 2, I. McKenzie (7mins.) 3. Fastest time, D. Hayes, 48mins. SOsecs.; second fastest time, E. Astin, 50mins. 26sees.
