management committee MEETS. The fortnightly meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu football Association was held last evening, Mr F. W. Ivey presiding in the absence of Mr J. C. Young. Also present were Messrs Kempson, Facer, Downes, Worrall, Cooper and J. B. Smillie (secretary) Mr Kempson and Mr Facer reported on the visit of the junior boys to Wanganui, stating that an enjoyable time had been spent. Mr Kempson reported that the North Island primary tournament had been cancelled. It had, therefore, been decided to hold a six-aside tournament for the Manawatu teams in Palmerston North on September 19, the N.Z.F.A. having made this suggestion and forwarded a cheque for £5. There would be at least eight teams, apart from outside teams. Mr Facer suggested that sets of medals be provided for ■ the winners and for the runners-up and that a tea be held. The trophies would be presented at this gathering.—This was agreed to. It was resolved that the association’s representative team meet the leading team of Diamonds Club, Wellington, at North Street Park next Saturday. The younger members of the balance will constitute the B team. This side will be picked by Messrs Johnston, Ivey, Cooper and Blackwell. The secondary schools’ representative team will be used for the boys’ game. The referees will be Messrs Ivey (senior), Corry (intermediate) and Pitkethley (junior). ; Mr Worrall applied on of St. Andrew’s for permission to play the Hospital Club (Wellington) at North Street Park in September.—Permission, was granted. The New Zealand : Association advised that the association's second challenge for the Brown Shield was in order and that the application had been forwarded to the South Auckland Football Association for consideration. —lt was resolved to reply to the effect that should the request be granted it would be more satisfactory to the association if Mr Wallace refereed. The Taranaki Association wrote stating that it was unable to arrange a West Coast competition but that it favoured odd games.—Received. The fixtures for August 29 are St. Andrew’s v. Flock House (at Flock Hou.se) and Athletic v. R.S.A. at North Street Park.. The referees will be Messrs Ivey and Jenkinson respectively.

AUCKLAND, Aug. 18

The Auckland Football Association decided to-night to rescind its challenge for the English Trophy to the winners of the Canterbury-Otago match and substitute a match against Wellington at Wellington. The association also decided against a proposal by the parent body that the Chatham Cup final between Nomads (Christchurch) and Tramurewa (Auckland) he played at Christchurch instead of at Wellington.
