RANGITIKEI
MARTON, Aug. 18. A meeting of the Rangitikei Referees’ Association was hold on Monday evening, Rev. P. 11. Leonard presiding. Matters of interest to tho referees wore discussed, including rules and rulings. At a general committee meeting of tho Rangitikei Hunt Club on Tuesday afternoon tho chairman (Mr D. G. Riddiford) refemxl to tho death in the hunting Sold of the lato Mr Evan McGrogor, who had been one of the staunch supporters of hunting in tho district. They sadly deplored tho unfortunate accident, which deprived them of one of tho straighiest riders in the field, and his presence would bo sadly missed in the future. A vote of condolence to tho widow and relatives of tho deceased gentleman was carried by the members standing in silence. A hearty vote of thanks was accordod tho owners of the properties over which the point-to-point steeplechases wero held, to the donors of tho trophies and also to the ladies’ committee, who supervised the supper arrangements at the ball.
