The Rangitikei vanguard playing the correct forward game, followed up relentlessly and earned their reward when Shepherd scrambled over. Esler failed. Plaving an open game, the Rangitikei backs put. in some effective work, and maintained a hammering attack, forwards and backs handling well. Sexton, however, led the Manawatu foiVards in good loose rushes. Rangitikei again came with a sweeping forward rush f n r Rayhorto go over. Bending converted nicely. Sexton made a brilliant run for Manawatu when, showing a fine hurst of speed, he swerved his way righ + through the opposition, only to svtnmole and fall a. few vards from his objective. Ratigitikei cleared hut Sexton made another great solo daslr to the line, where lack of support lost a good scoring opportunity. and the first spell ended with Manawatu pressing.

Rangitikei attacked on resuming, hut Jorgensen intercepted a. cross-punt and got well nwav. He kicked into the arms of Bending, who ran almost through the Manawatu team, "selling the dummy” nicely, butjtransferred a trifle too late, and the movement broke down. Palmer later accepted the ball to go straight down the line and cross near the corner. Bending failed. Hardly a minute afterwards Reihia picked up nicelv from the ruck and dashed over. Gregory goaled. Palmer broke away in midfield for Rangitikei and went well into Manawatu territory, where he passed to Robertson,' who scored near the posts. The kick added to the total. Goffe and Sexton made good dashes for Manawatu, lint were unsupported.
