FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
ODDFELLOWS’ PAST GRAND .LODGE. A meeting of the Past Grand Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F. was held on Tuesday night in the Oddfellows’ Hall in Cuba Street and was well attended. Past Grand Bro. D. T. Dilks was in the chair supported by others of the district. The same officers were reelected for the coming term and the secretary, P.G. Bro. Clark, was given a bonus for his past services. During the evening a lecture was given by P.G. Bro. Scroggs on different methods of winning gold from the earth, which was greatly appreciated by all. At the next meeting another interesting lecture will be given. COURT MANAWATU. The fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu, A.0.F., No. 5655, was held in the Foresters’ Hall on Monday evening. There was a good attendance, including visitors from surrounding courts, over whom C.lt. Bro. T. Bradley presided. The sick visitors’ report was received with thanks. A challenge to a game of bowls for the U.F.C. Shield has been sent to the Sisters of Court Hinemoa to be played on Monday, August 10. One candidate was proposed for membership. At the conclusion of the meeting the members spent the remainder of the evening playing howls. A tasty supper was served by the brothers of the court.
