OROUA DOWNS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OROUA DOWNS, July 30. The second of a series of six fiveJiundred and euchre tournaments was held in the school on Wednesday evening, when two rooms were filled with players and the function was a great success, the object being to raise money for the school. In the five-hundred competition Mr A. Nicholls and Mr H. Shailer cut for position and Mr Shailer proved the winner. Miss Cole won the ladies’ prize. Mr W. Scott and Mrs Bennett won the consolation prizes. In the euchre section Messrs J Scott, H. Millard, Dalgety and Mitchell cut for position and Mr Dalgety won. For the ladies’ prize Aliss M. Scott proved the winner and Mr J. Sears and Mrs Dalgety won the consolation. During the evening Miss Eva Dalgety gave a Highland dance. Supper was provided by the committee and 'Miss McKenzie supplied the dance music. At the close of a very enjoyable function Mr Caithness thanked everyone for their support toward the evening.
