LOSS OF VESSEL.
HAPPENING AT STEWART ISLAND. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, July 29. A wireless message to-day from the Hinemoa, which is lying in Little Glory Harbour, Stewart Island, to the owner of the Kotare, D. W. McKay, stated that the Kotare was on fire at Little Glory Harbour. As she is an old wooden vessel and has been laid up under a caretaker, it is feared that she will be a tptal loss. Communication with Little Glory Harbour is onlv possible through the Hinemoa’s wireless, and no further details are at present available. APPARENTLY NO LOSS OF LIFE. Per Press Association.
WELLINGTON, July 30. Advice has been received by the Marine Department to the effect that the Kotare has sunk and is a total loss. The caretaker and his wife are aboard the Hinemoa, so apparently there is no loss of life.
