The annual conference of the New Zealand Public Service Association opens at Wellington on August 4. The conference is attracting more than usual interest in service circles in view of this year’s events. It is stated that the question of “combating the extensive Press propaganda focussed against the Public Service” will be one or the policy matters to be dealt with. Other matters are the reduction of allowances, including the recent decision that officers driving Government cars on official duties, not being the owner of a private car, should be required to pay for the driver’s license.
