FIGHTING IN SEVILLE.
MARTIAL LAW PROCLAIMED. PRISONS CONGESTED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copy.right.) Received July 24, 10.5 a.m. MADRID, July 23. There was fighting all day long in the streets of Seville, strikers and the Civil Guard being engaged in combat. A number were killed, including the daughter of the ex-Mayor, who was struck by a stray bullet. Martial law lias been declared. The prisons are so full that those arrested are being taken ’to the cellars of the Town Hall. Forty-five Syndicalist leaders liave been arrested. DANGER OF ANARCHY. MADRID, July 23. The Constituent Assembly has not yet succeeded in swearing-in a quorum. Only 141 credentials thus far have been approved. The delay is causing great restlessness among the deputies, who are desirous of discussing the economic situation. The Government meanwhile, faced with a situation bordering on anarchy, is preparing legislation in the hope of wiping out ;tne strikes.
