RESULTS OF COUNTY MATCHES. . RAIN SPOILS PLAY. Received July 22, 9.40 a.m. LONDON, July 21. Rain interfered with the county cricket matches, results of which are as follow : . Lancashire v. Surrey: Lancashire scored 153 for 9. The game was drawn. Sussex v. Leicester: In the first innings Sussex scored 155_(Snary 4 for 33) and in the second 265 for 8,. declared (Duleepsiuhji 91), Leicester scored 66 in the first innings (Tate o for 24) and in the second 170 (Bowley 5 for 42). Sussex won by 184 runs.. Somerset v. Hampshire : Somerset s first innings realised 119 (Kennedy 5 for 57) and the second 192. Hampshire scored 191 in the first innings (White 5 for 69) and the second 121 for 6 (Hampshire won by four wickots ) • Worcester v. Glamorgan: Worcester’s .first innings realised 100 (Ryan 7 for 52), and the second 86 (Clay 5 for 31). Glamorgan’s first innings realised 140, and the second 48 for 3. Glamorgan won by 7 wickets. Warwickshire v. Northants: In the first innings Warwick scored 326 (Croom 105, Wyatt not out 85), Northants made 174 in the first innings (Bakewell 88), and followed on for 82 (Paine 8 for 44). Warwick won by an innings and 70 runs. Notts v. Yorkshire: In the first innings Notts scored 201 (Walker 82, Bowles 7 for 80) and in the second 95 (Robinson 7 for 27). Yorkshire scored 204 for 6, declared, in the first innings (Holmes 133) and 93 for 1, in the second. • Yorkshire won by nine wickets.
Kent v. Middlesex:. Kent’s first innings realised 263 (Durston 6 for 66). Middlesex in the first innings made 110 (Freeman 5 for 55), and followed on for 83 (Freeman 6 for 47). Kent won by an innings and 70 runs. Gloucester v. Derby: In tlie first innings Gloucester scored 217 (Dacre 90 Mitchell 6 for 79) and in the second 191 (Hammond 81). Derby in the first innings scored 210 (Jackson 81, Goddard 8 for 79) and in the seoond 180 (Parker 6 for 64). Gloucester won by eighteen runs.
CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE. ' YORKSHIRE HEADS LIST. Received July 22, 12 noon. LONDON, July 21. In tire county cricket competition, Yorkshire, by handsomely defeating Nottingham, accomplished" the month’s most remarkable performance, securing six wins, and one draw-, and rising from seventh to first on the championship table.
