MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
A PLAINTIFF NON-SUITED. Proceedings were taken in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., by J B Reddish, of Palmerston North (Mr Mel Gregor) against W. MoPhun, of Wanganui (Mr Ongley), to recover £24 as money allegedly loaned by plaintiff to defendant. After hearing evidence that plaintiff had received £I6OO from England in three years, and statements concerning the manner of its expenditure, the Magistrate non-suited plaintiff on the grounds of insufficient evi dence. His Worship said that judging by the circumstances the money was more likely to have been a gift than a loan, and now that plaintiff was hard up lie was trying to obtain it back. Costs amounting to £1 l s - were allowed defendant. A SUCCESSFUL CLAIM. J^=m ent was given for plaintiff for £3 -s 9d in a defended claim brought by t b® Diabolo Separator Co., L t d (Mr Gordon) against J. Cameron , farmer, of Moutoa (Mr Petersen).
